Please note that the Allergy School on 'Hot Topics on Allergy and Asthma', from 29 August - 1 September 2008, in Tbilisi, Georgia, is cancelled.

New guidelines for GPs: diagnosis and management of allergic rhinitis

In collaboration with health professionals' associations IPCRG and WONCA, and EFA
The majority of patients with allergic rhinitis first seek medical advice in primary care practices. GPs have a central role to play in the adequate diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Two short guidelines aim to support doctors in their diagnostic and facilitate their assessment of the disease and their medication choices.

Sport and asthma: GA²LEN 'Olympic' study

9 GA²LEN centres will be following athletes selected for the Beijing Olympic Games.
The aim of the study is to assess the prevalence and diagnosis rates of asthma and allergies among top athletes in summer sports.  About 20 percent of summer sports athletes have asthma . This proportion varies between different types of sports; endurance sports in particular such as runners, swimmers, and cyclists, have been reported to have a high prevalence.
